David C. Banthin, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Faculty at William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis and Psychology. He earned his doctoral degree from the New School for Social Research and completed fellowships and postdoctoral certificates at Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research, Mount Sinai/Mental Illness Research and Clinical Center at the Department of Veteran Affairs, and Behavioral Tech for Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Dr. Banthin completed his psychoanalytic training at the White Institute. He has engaged in psychotherapy research in psychodynamic and behavioral treatment modalities for 15+ years with a focus on the therapeutic relationship. All of his work, training and clinical experiences have fostered an appreciation for working in the here and now, taking the long view, serious-mindedness and an appreciation for collaboration with others.
